Loosening the corona measures from the 11th of May
On 6th May last, the government announced a step-by-step plan for loosening the corona measures. With this plan, we have reached a new phase of the corona crisis. From Monday 11th May, Aalsmeer will gradually open up again. The adjustments have been adopted in the new emergency order of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region.
Keep a distance of 1.5 metres, avoid crowds
In this new phase, we have to observe a few simple basic rules: always keep a distance of 1.5 metres and avoid crowds. Stay at home if you have a cold, and if you are short of breath or have a fever, your house mates and members of the family must also stay at home. Wash your hands regularly.
The fact that the tonwships are gradually opening up also involves more crowded areas everywhere. Relevant measures are being taken in the public space, but we also need some cooperation from our citizens. Please try and avoid crowded areas, and if you are in an area with too many people, come back at a later, quieter time. Give each other as much space as possible, work at home and only use public transport for strictly necessary journeys.
Only if we all abide by these rules, we will be able to make sure the coronavirus will not strike again, so we can remove more and more restrictive measures in the near future.
As from 11th May
In addition to the previously announced adjusted measures for children and young people (school and sports), the following adjustments will apply from 11 May 2020:
- Contact professions such as hairdressers, physiotherapists and beauticians can go back to work by appointment.
- Libraries can reopen. It will be left up to the location managers to set up measures to ensure that the 1.5-metre rule can be properly complied with and that the burden on public transport remains acceptable. Catering at these locations will remain closed, but toilets can be visited. Check out the websites of the facilities concerned for the exact reopening dates.
- Indoor and outdoor pools can reopen. Communal washing and shower facilities remain closed, but toilets can be used. A number of aspects still need to be put in place before they can effectively reopen. The exact opening date of the pool is not yet known. Check out the website of the swimming pool.
If the measure to keep a distance of 1.5 metres is not observed or cannot be observed properly, these facilities may be closed again.
Outdoor sports at 1.5-metre distance
Outdoor sports are allowed for persons aged 19 years and older, also in a team, at a distance of 1.5 metres. As for children and young people, they are not yet allowed to organise competitions, participate in competitions or use communal washing and showering facilities. The football cages will be fully reopened. Outdoor activities for children and young people up to the age of 18 organised by scouting, culture, art and other youth clubs can also take place again. The 1.5-metre distance rule applies to young people aged 13 to 18 years.
The national government's plans for further loosening of the coronary measures from 1 June 2020 can be found at the website of The Government.
